In memoriam

I hate the way you talk to me,
and the way you cut your hair.

I hate the way you drive my car,
I hate it when you stare.
I hate your big dumb combat boots
and the way you read my mind.

I hate you so much it makes me sick,
it even makes me rhyme.

I hate the way you’re always right,
I hate it when you lie.
I hate it when you make me laugh,
even worse when you make me cry.

I hate it when you’re not around,
and the fact that you didn’t call.

But mostly I hate the way I don’t hate you,
not even close,
not even a little bit,
not even at all.

I know most people would say that you officially became a star to the world after Brokeback Mountain. But to us who grew up with you, much earlier, when they slowly focused on your face as Julia Stiles read you that poem.

I’m sorry people think you gave up.

Goodbye Heath.

  2. Yes, I read it somewhere too that he was having trouble sleeping. It is such a tragic accident.

10 Things I Hate About You is one of my favourite movies. That was when I first saw Heath Ledger, those many, many years ago.

It really is sad, isn’t it?

  3. Sad.

    Tragic and accidental death.

I couldn’t believe my eyes when I saw the front cover of MX yesterday in the city. It said “Heath Dead”. I thought it was a headline to catch people’s attention for his upcoming movie or something. Until I grabbed one of the papers and actually read it. I almost fell off the bench while waiting for the train reading the sad, tragic news.

By the way, the ’10 things I hate about you’ poem really hit the spot. I was touched even more so amidst the sadness of reading condolences all over the papers and blogspots. I must say, you should be a professional journalist already!

  7. I was shocked jua when I heard the news very early in the morning lagi tu. Atu tarus ku online di ubd to look at headlines arh yahoo news, to confirm what I heard in the morning.

I always like that poem that Julia Stiles’ character read to his character in Ten Things I Hate About You, and sometimes I smile when I heard the poem, while sometimes I cry. Now I know it will just be crying.

I don’t think he gave up either.

  8. Sofia, I’m not much of a cook, however, I do have some food posts of traditional Bruneian cooking posted sporadically. You are free to use the pictures and text that come with it (with creditation of course) if you do not object to going through my archives.

In the mean time, I’ll try to find an interesting Bruneian recipe to blog. 🙂

  9. I remember reading the news and going, “Whoa.” I also first saw him in ’10 things’. Kinda sad… but honestly? The next thing I thought of was, “I wonder what that means for ‘The Dark Knight’?”
