An event that has made a huge impact on me must be the recent tsunami n Japan. As you can imagine, after have been to Japan twice, and experiencing Japanese hospitality first hand, I feel some sort of a kinship towards the country and its people. It’s crazy that both the prefectures I have been to: Fukushima and Sendai, may never be the same again because of the earthquake and subsequent tsunami. I am scared for my host family, especially the lovely Yoko, and her husband, a family of birdwatchers who I have failed to contact until now. Especially now with talks of their drinking water being contaminated with radioactive stuff, I really hope they are alright. Even Toshy, the family cat. 😦 I am sad for Sendai, in the Miyagi prefecture, one of the most beautiful places in Japan, famed for being green, thus earning the nickname “City of Trees”, was apparently one of the worst hit areas. Sometimes I just can’t believe it.
