#GoTemburong Campsite Experience for First Timer

If you follow my social media (namely Instagram or Facebook Page), you may know that Brunei Tourism has generously sponsored me and a few other social influencers for a holiday package to Temburong.

The Temburong destination holiday packages were launched sometime last month and specifically tailored for locals! Check them out on the Brunei Tourism website.

I was selected, together with Gzul, and Shaf of BIG Magazine for the Campsite Experience.

Check out my Day 01 experience below!

AZ Back To Nature is a camping site and it’s been around for a few years. It’s located just 2-3 minutes away from the Ulu Temburong National Park. There’s no electricity supply, water or mobile reception there, so you’re really roughing it out when you stay to camp here.

I won’t sugarcoat it: it is quite literally CAMPING IN THE JUNGLE.

However, tents set up by our hosts are comfortable, and located on a platform, so it is always dry no matter how hard it rains. It was raining when we were there and super cold I wore blanket up to my neck haha.

There is a rudimentary but clean bathroom and a toilet – one squat, one sitting potty – to be shared with all other guests and from our campsite you walk for 2 minutes (in the dark) at night to get there haha. Make sure u bring a torchlight! Definitely u can shower and clean up there, and it draws water from the river, but don’t expect super strong water pressure haha. Honestly it’s much better to clean up at the river.

It’s a full board package so u get ur meals taken care of, breakfast, tea, lunch, dinner, anything! The hosts, mostly local Ibans, are suuuuuuper lovely and friendly (we love them!) so they will assist u with anything u want or like.

For tours into the national park, you are accompanied by Haddy, who I feel is the most awesome guide in Brunei. He is super knowledgable, cheerful, very easy to talk to and really experienced.

I know the whole camping thing may turn most of u off, but I SUPER love it there! I recommend it for a new experience, for pushing your boundaries, and just getting out of your comfort zone. Bring friends, kekasih, or family and just enjoy!

Oh and if you’re worried about rain, FYI, it’s much better than the heat hahah. All activities generally still carry on during the rain unless it’s super scary and labat banar macam betemparik hahaa. In the Ulu, we’re not scared of getting wet.

Also, special shout out to Progresif, who has the strongest and fastest reception in Ulu Temburong! There’s reception, from the Kuala Belalong Research Centre all the way to the Canopy Walkway.

Stay tuned for Day 2 where we conquer our fear of heights kinda hahahaha.

Good night!
