It is official. I have now entered the world of parenthood with schooling children and that means we are limited to school holidays/peak periods for travel.
My problem? The travel industry charges double or even triple for airfares and hotel during these peak periods.
I am cost conscious but i am also value conscious. I’ve discovered a few hacks!

Planning early. There’s no way around it, planning early means we can get better deals and that means better prices on not only airfares but also hotels, activities etc.
Domestic travel – or in my case departing from Miri is a wonderful way of managing cost and keeping airfares low.
Anyway, here is my itinerary dan silakan meniru lol:
Day 1
2pm Leave for Miri
4pm Check in to Jinhold Hotel

Jinhold Hotel is conveniently located just in front of the Miri Airport. You can park your car here during your trip in their underground basement and will cost RM38 per night. They also offer free shuttle to and from the airport.
Day 2
8am Check out of Jinhold Hotel and leave for Miri Airport via free shuttle
10am Flight to KL

12pm Arrive in KL and took Grab to the hotel
2pm Check in Hilton Garden Inn, Chow Kit

Chow Kit is a lovely neighborhood in KL which still retains that old KL charm. Hilton Inn Garden is just few steps away from where Sudirman did his infamous public concert – up to now still the only event of its kind in Malaysia.

Explored Bukit Bintang but felt a bit claustrophobic with soooooo many people there we ended up in Pavillion Food Court (Food Republic) so that’s where we had our dinner.
Late supper of Cendol Durian – at Jalan Raja Bot (there is so many durian stalls here fyi!)
