From Miri to KL to Ipoh to Johor and back to Miri: Free and Easy Itinerary for 10D!

It is official. I have now entered the world of parenthood with schooling children and that means we are limited to school holidays/peak periods for travel.

My problem? The travel industry charges double or even triple for airfares and hotel during these peak periods.

I am cost conscious but i am also value conscious. I’ve discovered a few hacks!

Planning early. There’s no way around it, planning early means we can get better deals and that means better prices on not only airfares but also hotels, activities etc.

Domestic travel – or in my case departing from Miri is a wonderful way of managing cost and keeping airfares low.

Anyway, here is my itinerary dan silakan meniru lol:

Day 1

2pm Leave for Miri

4pm Check in to Jinhold Hotel

Jinhold Hotel is conveniently located just in front of the Miri Airport. You can park your car here during your trip in their underground basement and will cost RM38 per night. They also offer free shuttle to and from the airport.

Day 2

8am Check out of Jinhold Hotel and leave for Miri Airport via free shuttle

10am Flight to KL

Used Airasia for the first time in a very long time! Pleased to report that it was very pleasant

12pm Arrive in KL and took Grab to the hotel

2pm Check in Hilton Garden Inn, Chow Kit

Chow Kit is a lovely neighborhood in KL which still retains that old KL charm. Hilton Inn Garden is just few steps away from where Sudirman did his infamous public concert – up to now still the only event of its kind in Malaysia.

Explored Bukit Bintang but felt a bit claustrophobic with soooooo many people there we ended up in Pavillion Food Court (Food Republic) so that’s where we had our dinner.

Late supper of Cendol Durian – at Jalan Raja Bot (there is so many durian stalls here fyi!)

Day 3

Breakfast at Hamdan Roti, Pusat Penjaja Jalan Tuanku Abdul Rahman – btw semua makanan sini nyaman nyaman sekian

Headed to Aquaria KLCC

Aquaria is not somewhere i would recommend to anyone haha. There’sjust too many people and everything feels old and under maintained. U can see sharks pulang and manta rays in the tunnel but ntah yg lain panas dan completely covered by people. Go to Sealife at Legoland better!

Late lunch at Chilis!

Of course we overordered

Then went to KLCC Park to take the iconic pic with the twin towers.

Then went to TRX!

Nice mall yg not as crowded as Pavillion – quite pleasant! But food places nya not as siok. Enjoyed it here nevertheless.

Dinner at The White and Black Kampung Heritage

Lovely vintage vibes and delicious food

Day 4

Rainy morning we ordered in for Breakfast

Delicious pastries from Levain Bakery

Lunch at Bungalow 289

What a unique place for lunch!

Indoor playground in Mont Kiara – Kids Nation

Icecream at Inside Scoop, Mont Kiara

Walk around Chow Kit, Lorong Haji Taib, Quill Mall

Dinner at Dampuhkt Restaurant which is a Pakistani style bbq place. Nyaman!

12pm Train to Ipoh

2pm Arrive in Ipoh Railway Station

Check in to M Boutique Hotel

Lovely hotel with super friendly staff and the cutest little boutique in the lobby

Dinner at Nifayyi Warung & Kafe (ada Robot Servers!)

Shopping at Gerbang Malam (open every night) where i saw this:

Day 6

Breakfast hunt at Ipoh Old Town

Ipoh is a morning place – best to do breakfast hunt. Wake up early as some places by 10am atu run out of food or orgnya balik sudah.

A word of caution to visitors in old town of ipoh, do check the menu as many places (not all) are non-halal. Despite that still can makan a lot tho hahaaa.. there are plenty yg no pork no lard and halal also, just be careful u dont sit in one yg have lol.

1pm Head to The Lost World of Tambun

Highly recommend this theme park! Inda ramai manusia and the slides at the waterpark are so much fun! also very well maintained, clran and surrounded by beautiful limestone hills. Super relaxing and fun! (Dan murah!)

Dinner at Paradigm Mall

Lol he wants chicken tapi tidur. Then woke up and wanted Jollibee hahaaa we offered Marrybrown!

Day 7

Woke up with a mission: Nasi Ganja Yong Suan

So so good! Highly recommend
