Remember that I had mentioned how I was part of a Public Speaking Competition? Well, I didn't get to the finals obviously but 8 others (out of 80 of us) did! What I thought of the competition? Well, boring mostly. Hehe. But I usually have low attention span in the afternoons. That's when I start to mumble instead of speak, and stutter instead of enunciating properly. I also get all fidgety and zone out a lot. This usually occurs some 20 minutes after lunchtime.
Anyway, enough about me (well, not really, the blog is after all mostly about me, since it is MY blog). SO MOVING ONNN! I thought some great speakers from last round should have been in the finals instead of some who are actually in it. But what do I know. 🙂
It was held in a room with a nice ceiling.

Yes I noticed the dead lightbulbs too. It was potentially pretty anyway. However, I can't say the same about the rest of the room unfortunately.

Okay, that's the MC and the judges. People spoke and stuff. I am too lazy to comment on them because, I am really jealous that, that girl won 1000 bucks (although I must admit I loved her speech).
<bitter> And now she is a thousand dollar richer. The same goes to the runner up (who I can't remember but won $700) and the guy who got third place and won $500. They're rich and I'm poor yada yada yada. Whatever, congratulations on passing the Gift of Gab: Theory and Practice. </bitter>
Sighhh. ANYWAYYYYYY, what I really want to show is this…

Penguins! During the intermission! The Third Year TESLers did a performance, and dressed up as penguins playing musical chairs. 🙂
CUTE!

Is it coincidence that featured on today’s MSN front-page is an article on “Squash[ing] Your Fear of Public Speaking“?
What was the title of the winning piece?

It was something about how dangerous mobile phones can be on the road. Such a boring topic but such a profound speech! She really deserve the 1000 bucks.
