One of the things in Brunei that I want to do but cannot afford to do is, coral watching. Coral watching is going to be impossible if there are no corals. Corals can die if active measures are not taken to conserve them.

Dr David J W Lane, a marine scientist from the Department of Biology, Faculty of Science, Universiti Brunei Darussalam is also actively doing research of coral life in Brunei water since 2004. (……) He is also appealing to the private sector for sponsorship and support in his coral conservation programme.
Interested parties can contact Lane at 2463001 ext 1378 or 8873958.
Well, I don't see why big companies from the private sector shouldn't support a coral conservation programme. Especially big companies who exports oil and are very rich. Those big companies which has the Government as the highest stakeholder. Who I think should invest a bit in Brunei's Tourist Industry.
Bari dih usin. Buat softball mau kamu sponsor.

For the firms to sponsor the coral conservation programme, they need to be certain that the coral will be there long enough for them to reap economic benefits and there is a demand for coral-watching. Sure, they can pass the economic benefits and be known as ‘the environmentally-friendly’ instead, but is this what society put a lot of priority on?
Knowing that we should conserve the corals is not enough. Does society want it? Does society value coral conservation? Will society appreciate it?
I see a lot of costs, from the view of the business firm. Equipments, experts and accountants needed. Benefits? Help environment, known as the “Good’ Company.
Say you give them half the profits from coral-watching and deep-sea diving, they just might just consider sponsoring, promoting & maintaining.
It’s all about the money. =)

Might take a while to assess the profitability of coral-watching in Brunei. Maintenance and etc. If it turns out that the investment will be worthwhile, we might be seeing “Welcome to the (name of beach) where the corals are”
Bruneians? Give them a new ‘in’ thing, after 2 months of excitement, diam tia. Hehee. Sanang buring bah org Brunei ani. Heheh =D
