From today’s Opinion Page in Borneo Bulletin,
Do give us separate swimming pools
I wish to express my concern as to why Brunei doesn’t separate the public swimming pool into male and female swimming pools.As a country strongly supportive of the concept of MIB. it should encourage modesty between the men and women of the country which is not what I witness at the public swimming pools.
As a Muslim girl, I find it hard to enjoy swimming with strange men looking at me. Sometimes I feel uncomfortable and violated because groups of boys stare at me and would later approach me asking for my number.
Not all Muslim girls find this amusing. I hope Brunei officials would consider maybe introducing a hijab between the male and female pools or better still, two separate swimming pools.
We would greatly appreciate it!

Hahahahahaha! While I am not against Swimfan’s opinions, I personally find the letter quite funny! First of all, I’ve been swimming for in a while, scantilly clad for all the world to see, but no strange men has ever actually STARED at me while my freckles are spattered all over my face, unmasked under layers of concealer, thunderthighs exposed… (you get the picture). Let alone asked for my phone number!
YOU MUST BE HOT! Hell, jadinya kau ani laku. My advice to this is, if you don’t like men staring at you, GROW A PENIS. Regardless of whether u wear a BURQA with a bodysuit underneath or go nude underwater, men will stare at women, except for me. Laki-laki inda guna aku. I’m f***ing fat.

It was a good thing she pointed out, but it was unnecessary that she had to go about men staring at her. It was enough about Muslim boys and girls shouldn’t mix, full stop. I, for a Muslim girl, don’t find it amusing that she actually went swimming in the first place and complain about it. Find a more private swimming place, like the bathtub of your home. LOL.
But seriously, if she so strongly believes this, she would have disciplined herself not to go swimming. Or at least wear something less revealing. I mean, sampai men approached her for her number ani wah. Gila, banar tu, lawa sangat perempuan ani. Aku yang fully-clothed lagi inda kana approach! Nah, liat tah siapa lampuh! LOL.

She can wear that long swimming suit kan. I was once an avid swimmer and like you said, no guys actually came up and asked for a number. Everyone was too busy swimming anyway.

awu eh!!! masa ku di boarding school aku pakai wet suit kali ah swimming.sampai ani ku be wetsuit masih. org puteh pun inda beliur. apa lagi urang di belapan atu. hahaha. “men stare at me asking for my number” was that really necessary kah? LOL.

One simple suggestion… Go to the BIDB building in Bandar… At the top floor they have seperate swimming pools and gym. Free promo for BIDB… It $10 per entry…
Bruneian guys kan banar yg ask for her number ani?? I tot Bruneian buys are ‘pemalu’? Plus aint it jus natural for a guy to ‘stare’ at a girl? Lau nda stay home sja hahahahaha
