Bad news for former TESLers

I’ll just copy and paste from Alistair‘s blog. Spread the word TESLers.

We got a phone call last Thursday from Suzie Turton, who told us that Nigel had a heart attack last Tuesday and died straight away.Ā  He had had some pains in the throat and upper arms the previous week and had gone to their local doctor, but she had run an ECG and found nothing wrong.

In case you missed it: yes, Alistair is talking about Nigel Turton. Though basically he is only that lecturer who left before teaching us, once in a while his name will manage to pop up in lessons concerning matters of grammar or grammar testing. It pops up often enough for me to know the deep impact the man had on DELAL and UBD.Ā  I know he will be missed.

  1. I had him as my lecturer and I know you would have loved him. Not only was he my lecturer but he was also a good friend.

I lost contact with him and he didnt even dare tell me he was going back for good.

He was also my smoking partner but I’ve quit now.

He will always be remembered. A great educator and he has published a couple of books on grammar which could be bought from Booker International

  2. true what Alistair said, grammar ain’t sexy but Nigel sure made it fun.
Missed the bantering during lectures or tutorials. If you miss one class he sure won’t cater to you but you just know he really really cares about you.
