Happy faces on the plane

1200 Arrive Jakarta & made way to hotel

Scan this to register and use the e-gate

3pm Check in (finally)

We stayed in Harmoni area, at Harris Vertu. Lovely hotel with the best staff.

Lovely hotel not far from 2 bus stations

4pm Head over to PIK – By the Sea for some shopping of local high street brands

Discovered many awesome high street local brands here – not the usual kind of shopping Bruneians do in Jakarta

7am: Head on over to Stasiun Halim by Grab

In the Economy Premium

820am: Catch the Whoosh (Kereta Api Cepat) to Padalarang

At Padalarang alight from the KCIC and join the feeder train to Stasiun Bandung

Lembang Floating Market

Initially planned to do some shopping along Jalan Sudirman but it rained heavily so ended up in Paris Van Java Mall for some salon time

Creambath time 😂

715pm Catch feeder train to Padalarang and catch Whoosh back to Jakarta

In the first class seats that costs double.

830pm Grab to Senayan City

On the bus, realising our anxiety regarding the bus system was unfounded!

9pm Dinner at Ramen Ya

Day 3 – Discovery Day

Woke up late and had brunch of Padang Food at Padang Merdeka

So yummy

Took a Grab to MACAN ( Museum of Contemporary Art Nusantara) where they were showing an exhibit by Patricia Piccininni.

Ngam jua bajunya ani kuning 😂
This artist specialises in hyper realistic sculptures and this one she made chimeras or people and children to convey concerns surrounding bio-ethics and help visualize future dystopias. Super interesting and recommend this museum!

Took a Grab to Jakarta Old Town – Also known as Old Batavia or Kota Toa, an area of northern central Jakarta where you’ll find many of the old colonial Dutch buildings. Strolled around Fatahillah Square

Ala ala estetik colonial
Welcome to my house
Middle of Fatahillah Square, the historical center of the old Batavia

Tried Acaraki Jamu, Iboe Madem and walked over to Toko Merah where we had coffee at Rode & Winkel

Acaraki is a must visit!
Es slendang mayang from Iboe Madem
At Toko Merah mengopi where we sat next to the window and found some bravery to go on the bus
On the bus realising that our anxiety on taking the bus was really unfounded. Big beautiful bus!

Took a Bus (Red line from Kali Besar to MONAS Monumen Nasional).

You need this card which costs RP50,000 and u get RP15,000 load inside. Cards are available in all machines. The bus stations are clean, and there’s staff at each station to ask which line to take. Buses have their own lane and exempt from the infamous Jakarta macet.

Anyway at MONAS we walked very far to the main gate but they were closed 😂

Tutup bah pagar ani. FYI MONAS closes at 4pm ok sekian

Decided to walk to Istiqlal Mosque while exploring Gambir area

Nah di kementerian hal ehwal dalam negeri versi indonesia hahaa

On the way there, had some classic icecream at Ragusa – a cute icecream place thats been open since 1932

Sorry blurry these are screenshots from videos haha. Gambir area around Istiqlal Mosque

The mosque was opened to the public on 22 February 1978. Within Jakarta, the mosque is positioned next to Merdeka Square, the Jakarta Cathedral (Catholic), and also of the Immanuel Church (Reformed)

Grabbed the bus to Sarinah (Red line from Juanda to MH Thamrin)

Ok Sarinah we are here 😂

At Sarinah, found out my friend was also there and decided to eat dinner together. She brought us to Roxy for roadside Sate Padang & Es Teler

Love this super friendly bapak selling sate padang
