Still awake

I am still awake, as my title suggests.

I am listening to the radio (probably still Pelangi FM), and I have unanimously decided that, Beyonce’s Deja Vu, is a really BIDA song. Dear lord, make her stop machine-gunning my ears!

I have spoken too soon.

Not long after I published this post, that God-awful song from Fast and Furious soundtrack with the “*woman voice*I WONDA IF YU KNOW< HOW WE LIF IN TOKIYO < IF YU SEE ME YADA YADA THEN YU KNOW YU HAP TO GOH! < FAST AND FURIOOOOOSSSS < *male voice* DRIFT!!!! DRIFT!!!!!! DRIFT!!!!!”

What is it with that song that everyone likes? It is really BIDA. The only thing about it is hype. Sometimes I think, if you put something on often enough, people will eventually like them songs.

I don’t get the movie either. They’re so mindlessly TACKY. Seriously, I have never met anyone who shares my indifference to the F&F movies. What about it is so appealing? The cars? I guess with all the budget poured into the shiny vehicles, they could only hire a 3-year-old to write out a storyline. Yuck.

Maybe it’s just me. Come to think of it, I find it very hard to be impressed by movies. Most disappoint. Plots are overdone, actors can’t deliver, characters are lopsided and underdeveloped, timelines are messed up.

Hollywood, is it actually experiencing a brain drain , an exhaustion of resources? If it is that it is good news for everyone else, even us in South East Asia.

The new generation of Malaysian independent movies have been really refreshing. They are getting more and more daring. I love the new breath of fresh air. Yes, they need brushing up, but, they were a refreshing change from the Yusuf Haslam and Saiful Apek dominated screens of Malay movies. It goes forward from now. Malaysia has been stagnant for a long time.

Thailand is following up on the Japanese/Korean horror movie bandwagon. I wonder if that is a good thing. How about Indonesia? The old urban romantic comedy is a bit tired now. Indonesia is such a rich avenue of inspiration and resource, I am surprised they don’t churn out more movies. Maybe they are focusing more on their afternoon sinetrons, which I think are rather bleugh.

Brunei? Fooh. A can of worms.. and maggots! What I think is that, if we are to remain untrue to ourselves and our sheer Bruneian uniqueness, if we continue to churn out badly prepared serials which tries to imitate its Malaysian counterparts to barely keep up, we will never succeed.

Hey, how did I get here? 🙂

And the latest Indonesian movie, (I believe you’ve watched this) Heart.. sucked. It really, really sucked. That lady singer of My Heart who acted as Luna, OH GOD. WORSE ACTRESS IN THE FACE OF THIS PLANET.

Sorry, but I feel that I have to stress that fact out. LOL.

  8. i agree that if a song is played often enough, people will start to warm up to it, no matter how bad the song is. there’s this britney spears’ song – “lucky” or something – that i couldn’t flush outta my head no matter how long i spent afterwards headbanging to metal. it was scary…

Nyasal ku liat cerita Heart, what with corny lines yang ewww, c Luna yang banar2 inda pandai belakun, and video clip nya lagu My Heart pun over ia menyanyi, confident lawa dalam sana, lagu Drift Drift atu gets on my nerves, ntah apa2 lagu atu & movie nya jua, sanak ku dangar lagu Beyonce what with video nya, ia menari macam urang kerasukan. Macam buat conclusion with what all you’ve said saja aku ah. Haha. Pokoknya, aku benciiiii~ Hahaha.

  12. Hehe, it seems that both Brunei and Malaysia tend to show fake things on tv (like a family having a dinner with their best clothes on, macam org kan bejalan but actually kan tidur), maybe due to the influence through Bollywood atu kali…

  13. Hehe.. apala. I have no problem with F&F movie + F&F OST + Heart OST.. except Deja Vu. Ceta heart balum ku liat… nda sampat ke wyg.. :D.

  14. F&F movie’s actually has one of the worse plot and storyline – take out the nice cars and Jap Chicks and no one would even bother watching it.

But then again – it’s cos of the nice cars and jap chicks…..

As for the Teriyaki Boys – as long as you got Jap chicks screaming *Fast & Furious!!!* in their Jap Slang, people are gonna like it. Not me though, I would sooner listen to the screeching tyres than actually listen to that song. Ahhhhh Screeching sounds …
