Kuala Lumpur (KL) is a Bruneian staple must visit and official second home. I love going there, and go at least 2x a year – whether kan saja saja berfoya-foya or as a transit location to my travels.
However I usually stay at AirBnBs as I usually travel in an (extremely clingy) group. So, few days ago, when someone asked me “where is the best hotel in KL?” I was completely at a lost.
So, desperately unqualified, I posed the question to my followers and WOW they do not disappoint. Read below to see the list of top recommended hotels to stay in Malaysia for Bruneians.
FYI, the list below is compiled according to the number of recommendations each hotel received, and rates quoted are from Agoda. I’ve never stayed at any of the hotels mentioned below haha!
Top Recommended by Bruneians: ANSA Hotel Kuala Lumpur

This hotel overwhelmed all other hotels in number of recommendations. Located smack dab in Bruneian favourite – Bukit Bintang, within short walking distance from Pavillion, Sephora. The rates start from BND130 and upwards.
02: Grand Millenium Kuala Lumpur

Coming a close second is Grand Millenium, still on the Bukit Bintang shopping belt and right next to Pavillion. Stays starts at about BND140 per night.
03: WOLO Kuala Lumpur

The WOLO is a boutique hotel, also on Bukit Bintang, appropriately closer to Starbucks, McDonalds, Uniqlo and H&M. The concept is more artsy fartsy, more targeted for younger audience. Rates start at BND100 per night.
04: Impiana KLCC Hotel

The first highly recommended hotel which is not in Bukit Bintang – this one is in KLCC instead. Although, there is a sky walk from KLCC to Pavillion which takes about 5-10 mins walk OR a train direct from KLCC to Bukit Bintang. LOL. So you’re still very close. Breakfast spread was also specifically mentioned a few times to be quite yummy! Rates start at BND130 per night.
05: Grand Hyatt Kuala Lumpur

Another one in the vicinity of KLCC. Rates start at BND210 per night so this is one of the more higher end hotels on the list.
06: Ascott KL

This one is a service apartment. Rates start at BND270 per night for 3 bedroom apartments and in the vicinity of KLCC. Definitely a key area aside from Bukit Bintang and I can see the appeal especially for group travelling like families.
07: JW Mariott Kuala Lumpur

Wow this must be the best ever location – same building as Starhill! Stays start at BND170 per night.
08: Aloft KL Sentral

A smallish hotel good for a quick trip as it’s located in KL Sentral, perfect as the launching hub for all your KLscapades. Stays start at BND120 per night.
09: Dorsett xx

A hotel where people also mentioned how wonderful the breakfast spread is, and is on Bukit Bintang. Stays start at BND110 (what a deal!).
10: Pullman Kuala Lumpur City Centre Hotel and Residences

I actually cannot visualise where this is. Apparently it’s near the Raja Chulan station so it should be on the Bukit Bintang shopping belt. Stays start at BND130 per night.
11: Melia Hotel

Oh I’ve seen this hotel on my way to KLCC. Great location and near to KLCC and a yummy nasi kandar place! Stays start at BND100 per night.
12: Ritz Carlton, Kuala Lumpur

This one is also on Bukit Bintang and stays start at BND180 per night.
13: Hotel Royal

Must be the cheapest stay on the list at BND65 per night! Located at Bukit Bintang, different than the other chain hotels recommended.
